In landscape design, flower borders are a very important form of expression, emphasizing the artistic technique of 'though made by man, it seems to have been created by nature'. Flower borders are natural flower belts designed by people through artistic refinement based on the natural growth state of wild flowers at the edge of the forest in natural scenery. Their bright colors and full group images leave a deep impression on people.
Flower borders are usually arranged with trees, hedges, low walls or buildings as the background. According to the different characteristics of the grouped scenery, they form curved or straight flower belts of varying widths.
The first step in flower bed design is to determine the plan. It is important to ensure a complete composition with varying heights and rich seasonal changes throughout the four seasons without obvious bare areas. The various flowers arranged together should not only be in harmony with each other in terms of color, posture, volume and quantity, but also the growth strength and reproduction speed of adjacent flowers should be roughly similar, and the plants should be able to coexist rather than repel each other. The VARIOUS flowers IN THE FLOWER BORDER ARE mixed in patches 牞 The patch area CAN be LARGE OR SMALL, but NOT TOO scattered and messy. Almost all open-field flowers can be used as materials for flower borders, but perennial perennial and bulbous flowers are preferred. Because these flowers can grow for many years and do not need to be replaced frequently, they are relatively easy to maintain and can also allow the characteristics of the flowers to be brought out more fully. Designers need to understand the different growth habits of flowers, select different types and combine them reasonably to make the flower bed have a lasting and good viewing effect.
Flower borders are divided into two types for viewing: single-sided (2 to 4 meters wide) and double-sided (4 to 6 meters wide). For single-sided viewing flower borders, the plants are arranged from low to high, forming a slope facing the road. Landscape design companies believe that for double-sided ornamental flower beds, the two sides gradually lower. The facade should have undulating and staggered contour changes. The planar contour is similar to that of a strip-shaped flower bed. The two sides of the planting bed should be parallel straight lines or parallel curves with traceable tracks, and it is rare to use evergreen woody or dwarf plants (such as Ophiopogon japonicus, Cymbidium japonicus, Sedum lineare, and boxwood with melon seeds, etc.) to border one side. Flower bed planting in flower borders should generally be slightly higher than the ground, mainly for perennial perennial flowers and flowering shrubs. When there are curbs, the treatment should be the same as that for flower beds. If there is no curb, the outer edge of the planting bed should be level with the grassland or road surface, while the middle or inner side should be slightly raised to form a slope of 5° to 10° to facilitate drainage.
